Public Intervention Art Project created by artists Hector Canonge and Chin Chih Yang highlights Queens Boulevard and one of the most transited stops under the # 7 Train. The project raises awareness about the environmental state of the planet and encourages audiences to participate in the creation of a temporary site-specific installation.

Long Island City, Queens-NY (May 2009) -- As part of this year’s Queens Art Express program, New-media artist, Hector Canonge, and media artist, Chin Chih Yang, present the public intervention art project “100 Degrees.” The artists’ collaboration, a commission of the Queens Council on the Arts, consists of a 10 feet transparent sphere whose surface displays the seven “fired up” continents while an encapsulated tree, made from recycled materials, displays writings, opinions, and views of participant audiences. During its month long installation, at 33rd Street & Queens Boulevard (Under the 33 St. Station, # 7 Train), the project is intended to raise awareness about the present state of the planet and the raising of global temperatures affecting various ecosystems. For the opening day, the artists will conduct public workshops, and project visuals taken from popular film culture accompanied by text, sounds, and live video.

旅美臺灣聲樂家鄭瑜英（Yvonne Cheng）紐約演唱會，將於4月18日在紐約哥倫比亞大學教師學院（Teachers College）舉行碩士畢業演唱會。
鄭瑜英1980年畢業於臺灣實踐家專（實踐大學前身），畢業後前往義大利米蘭威爾第音樂學院(Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory)進修，於1983年及1985年分別獲得聲樂演奏及聲樂室內樂文憑。她在2008年獲得西康乃迪克州立大學音樂學士，目前正在紐約哥倫比亞大學教師學院進修，即將於今年5月取得音樂與音樂教育碩士學位。鄭瑜英演唱經驗豐富，獲獎連連，其在臺灣求學期間，曾贏得臺灣聲樂比賽社會組第一名；旅居義大利10年期間，連續獲得1983年及1984年普契尼（Puccini）國際聲樂大賽第二名、1986年Maria Caniglia國際聲樂大賽第二名、1988年Maria Callas國際聲樂大賽決賽者及最佳舞台表演獎、1988年米蘭國際聲樂大賽第三名及最美女聲獎；旅美期間亦於2007年及2008年贏得美國教師學會聲樂比賽高階組第一名。詳細資料請見新聞稿

李燕華個展「Body Accounts」

留美藝術家李燕華此次創作個展主題為「Body Accounts」，李燕華從日常生活切
入，內容以故事、夢境和回憶為主，將人體的造型以卡通形式呈現，主要以人像作為造型的
平台，並在其中的空間建構出人生的許多故事及盲點，期待觀者去探討。李燕華的藝術表
現形式多元，從平面的繪畫到陶瓷立體的創作；如創作系列「回家」，收集美國各州在紐約
出版的舊書，然後在書上創作，作為她與紐約舊友(書)在紐約的對話錄。李燕華也運用陶
瓷土性材料的特質，塑造其造型再直接刻畫其內容，裝置其作品展出。
李燕華認為「人的身體就像是容器，它不只保護著我們的器官，更承載著我們的生活
記憶」。她將這些生活的印記，創作在其作品上。因從小受書法的薰陶，所以她擅長以墨
色的特質來抒發其內心的情感及表現其精簡的造型。
李燕華於2007年獲得於北伊利諾州立大學藝術碩士，曾參加許多國際藝術駐村計畫:
如匈牙利國際Kecskemek陶藝中心、奧地利維也納Kunstforum 及美國康涅狄格州I-Park。
也榮獲許多獎項：如國家文化基金會國際交流補助、"Open Doors 08"新澤西州Newark藝
術協會首獎、新澤西州 Studio Montclair Eleventh年度評審展首獎、新澤西州視覺藝
術中心第22屆國際評審展優選獎、愛阿華州 Clarke學院Big Muddy 陶瓷評審展首獎；也
舉辦許多個展：如紐約工作室藝廊(NY Studio Gallery)、Mix!德州達拉斯當代藝術中
心(Dallas Contemporary)、伊利諾州芝加哥Gallery Uno、德州達拉斯Conduit

台灣小提琴家許愷洋卡內基演奏廳演出
來自於台灣的小提琴音樂家許愷洋，3月29日在紐約卡內基維爾演奏廳 (Weill Recital Hall) 演出，歡迎藝文愛好者支持台灣音樂家。許愷洋於2008年獲得紐約Artists International, Inc.頒發青年藝術家獎，並將於 3月29日在紐約卡內基維爾演奏廳 (Weill Recital Hall) 演出。演出曲目包含史特拉汶斯基【義大利組曲】、莫札特e小調小提琴奏鳴曲K.304、美國近代作曲家艾略特．卡特(Elliot Carter) 小提琴獨奏曲集 4 Lauds for Solo Violin 中的 Rhapsodic Musings，以及理查史特勞斯降E大調小提琴奏鳴曲, op. 18。
許愷洋小提琴演奏將由台灣鋼琴家施儼珊 (Gloria Shih)擔任鋼琴伴奏。許愷洋於1999年赴美國紐約就讀Manhasset高中，多次獲選參加紐約長島All-County交響樂團、並擔任首席；2002年榮獲紐約幼青 (Childrens Orchestra Society)交響樂團協奏曲比賽冠軍，與該樂團在林肯中心演出布魯赫小提琴協奏曲，並獲紐約時報樂評家Anthony Tommassini 稱讚 : "promising violinist with rich, full sound, true musical sensitivity and considerable techniques." (具有豐富、飽滿的音色，真實且敏銳的 音樂性和可觀技術的未來小提琴家)。
